Friday, February 23, 2001 - Zee's for Negative Space and Julian Fist

We ate and arrived downstairs at 9 to grab one of the tables we had in mind. We were already excited, because when we walked in, the song "Yellow" by Coldplay was playing (one of our favourite bands). The Negative Spacers waved to us as we threw our coats on the chairs. We marched off to the bathroom and then returned to power up the battery in the camera. That battery always needs to be charged. Melanie wore Shannon's scarf for a while and then insisted that Shannon wear it for a bit. Shannon's dad was up in the restaurant eating some dessert and when he came back down, he brought some dessert for Shannon's mom and some glasses of water. Isn't he romantic? The waitress got angry, but he had received permission from the manager. He ended getting a gift certificate for $30 for the waitress's attitude.

We were able to sit while Negative Space was playing because no one was dancing about and we could see. So Shannon was able to tape without a problem. Negative Space was awesome~they put on a great show! They are all such the camera hams. Josh accidentally had the microphone turned off twice, and he was singing without any sound and struggling to turn it on…poor lad. We were very jolly to finally get to see them. When Julian Fist came on, people started getting up and dancing, so we had to stand. And Melanie got to hold the microphones, which Jim brought over. Now that’s a tough job, ha. Julian Fist is yet another band that we were deprived of for quite some time! The guys from Negative Space and Julian Fist seemed like they were all really close and friendly to each other which was very cool to see.

After JF's first set, we had to leave, but we insisted on getting tees. So while we were in that process, Jim and Shannon's dad talked. Shannon's mom ended up sitting with Josh and chatting. Mitch and Scott from JF said hello to us while we stood around. Shannon was her usually spazzy self and Melanie was getting a bit irritated cause she wore a long sleeve tee, got hot, and didn’t want to strip down to her tank top to walk around the bar.
